HIPAA
Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center follows strict HIPAA Guidelines and has policies to protect your personal information. For additional information regarding the HIPAA Privacy Rule visit HHS.gov.
All reactive (positive) HIV test results will be reported to local or state health departments in accordance with mandatory reporting guidelines. Health departments use this information to follow-up and refer people to medical care, for contact tracing purposes and to help understand trends in HIV. DOH may share de-identified data with federal funding agencies. All state and local health departments comply with HIPAA regulations and protect patient confidentiality.
Confidential vs Anonymous Rapid HIV Testing
Confidential STI and HIV Testing
Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center conducts Confidential Testing for all sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in accordance with Washington State policy. Confidential registration allows you to receive any testing offered at Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center during your appointment including: gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and Hepatitis C. Please read the following information regarding confidential registration before continuing.

- You will provide Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center with your full name and contact information.
- You may receive a confirmatory blood draw in the event of a reactive (+) HIV rapid test result.
- We can release your records to you or your healthcare provider with a signed “Release of Information” form.
- Your test results will be stored within a single client profile on our HIPAA compliant electronic health record system which you can access at any point in time.
Anonymous HIV Testing
Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center conducts Anonymous Testing for HIV rapid testing only in accordance with Washington State policy. If you choose to register anonymously, no personal identifying information is collected. You will create a unique code for your visit and provide contact information during registration. If you have registered anonymously and the rapid HIV test is reactive (+) you will be required to switch to confidential registration to receive a confirmatory blood draw. Please read the following information regarding anonymous registration before continuing.

- You are registering only for an HIV rapid test.
- You will need to remember your unique code to access your test results.
- Your test results will only be available one time through the online portal and you may only receive a copy of your test results in person with a signed “Release of Information” form.
